Du liebst das Club-Feeling, aber wünscht dir mehr Platz zum Tanzen und keinen Kater am nächsten Morgen? Dann bist du in diesem Kurs genau richtig! Teile dir mit Gleichgesinnten einen großen Dancefloor und befreie dich vom Alltagsstress bei lauter House, Disco, R&B und Funk Musik.

In diesem Kurs wird die tänzerische und kulturelle Foundation von Waacking & House Dance erarbeitet. Beide Tanzstile entwickelten sich 1970/1980 in der queeren Underground Clubszene der USA. Social und Party Dances aus dieser Zeit gehören ebenso zum Kursinhalt wie die ausdrucksstarken Arm-Bewegungen von Waacking und das federleichte Footwork von House Dance. Ein Zusammenspiel aus Drills, Konzepten und Freestyle bildet den Hauptteil des Kurses, wobei neben der Technik der eigene Ausdruck und das gemeinsame Tanzen im Vordergrund steht. Auf eine Trainings-Atmosphäre, die einen kreativen Austausch ermöglicht, wird großen Wert gelegt und das Tanzstudio mit Licht und Ton in einen Club verwandelt.

Magdalena Neuburger ist Gründerin der Waacking Linz Community, die seit 2019 stetig wächst. Sie ist seit über 10 Jahren ein bekanntes Mitglied der österreichischen Street- und Club Dance Szene und treibt deren Entwicklungen durch die Organisation und Initiierung verschiedener Veranstaltungen voran. Ihre tänzerische Laufbahn führte über die Leidenschaft für Schauspiel zum Musical, worauf sie sich längere Zeit konzentrierte. Die Entfaltungsmöglichkeiten, die Street und Club Dances bieten, bedingten schließlich einen Wechsel des Genres. Seither bildet sie sich stetig in Workshops im In- und Ausland (NYC, Thessaloniki, Amsterdam etc.) weiter. Durch das Reisen zu verschiedensten Tanz Events bleibt sie in Kontakt mit Tänzer:Innen und Club Dance Communities aus Frankreich, der Schweiz, Deutschland, Italien, den Niederlanden, Ungarn und Griechenland.

Let‘s get some clearity on the terminology of polymeter & polyrhythm and play with some brainy concepts 🧠 🤩
We‘ll be working on:
- polymeter vs polyrhythm in music & dance
- coordination of body parts
- clear communication of different rhythms
- diverse tempi
- useful rhythmical patterns

My teaching method mainly involves concepts & tasks, so if you are a motivated beginner who is not easily demotivated, feel free to join and choose your level within the exercises 🤞Also dancers from all styles will profit from studying these topics so feel free to join 🤓

ℹ️ The concept according to which the local Waacking Community has been functioning for 5 years also provides the basis for this performance. Everyone is invited to participate according to their individual wishes & needs. No matter where they are in their dance development, everyone should be allowed to contribute their expression to this collaborative composition.

At crossroads of dance paths, the performers are confronted with their differences and similarities, which can lead to adjustments in tempo, confrontation of opposing energies or symbioses in expression. Finding a common p(l)ace is therefore one of the main motifs in this research.

In Waacking, the seemingly great differences between the dancers either fade into the background or are downright celebrated. This approach allows us to discover and experience our own identity in a safe environment.
